October 2015 knitting design

Hi Knitters —
Join us in October as Guild member Heddi Craft takes us into the world of knitting design. A relatively new designer, Heddi took the plunge and began developing her own shawl patterns as a way to build her lace knitting skills about two years ago. Her success with pattern design resulted in her winning the Guild’s prize at the Santa Cruz County Fair in 2014 for a beautiful lace shawl. She has since published patterns on Ravelry and on the KnitPicks website.

Heddi will talk about how she got into the business of pattern design and discuss the tools and techniques she uses. She’ll also show us some of her finished projects and tell us where we can find her patterns.

This is sure to be an interesting program, and who knows, maybe you’ll get the design bug, too!

The NIGHT MEETING will be on Tuesday evening, October 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 2500 Soquel Ave.

The DAY MEETING will be on Thursday, October 15, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 at Vintage Faith Church (aka The Abbey), the large brick church at the corner of Mission and Highland.

From Highway 1 North, Highland is the first right after the light at the top of the hill where Highway 1 merges into Mission Street. Parking lot is the first right turn off Highland.

From Highway 1 (Mission Street) South, turn left at the light on Walnut to Escalona. Turn right on Escalona to its end at Highland. Parking lot is across Highland. Enter through the Office; our meeting is straight ahead in The Fireside Room.

Hope you can make it.
