July 2015 Knit for a Day at Ava’s

Ever want to just sit and knit for a day without any distractions?  Wouldn’t it be fun to enjoy the day with other knitters?  Well, here’s your chance!  Our spring day retreat was such a hit that we’re sponsoring another this summer courtesy of host Ava Schaefer at her home in Felton.

The retreat will be held on Friday, July 17.  It will start at 10:00 a.m. and last until we get tired of each other.  Bring a bag lunch and/or something pot luck to share.  We’ll knit, we’ll talk, we’ll nosh…perfect way to spend a day!

Ava’s address is 114 Gail Drive in Felton. Please RSVP; Phone 335-7189, email; avads114@gmail.com. Directions provided by Ava: Our two story house is a taupe color with blue trim and has a separate garage

From Santa Cruz or Scotts Valley, take Graham Hill Road until it intersects with Hwy.  9 in downtown Felton. Turn left and stay on Hwy. 9 for 1.3 miles. (You may want to meet a friend and carpool into the neighborhood by leaving a car in the parking lot of Rite Aid, on Hwy. 9 in Felton. We have neighbors who sometimes have their trailer and/or boat parked on the street across from us, which takes up 4 parking spaces). You’ll go out of town, past the Lincoln Log style sign at Henry Cowell Redwood State Park entrance, past the Fern River Resort on the left then the next street on the left is Gail Drive. There is a brown school bus shelter at the far corner. Turn left down Gail, stay on it through an intersection, our house is second on the right. A wide driveway will accommodate at least 4 cars if you park close to the fence and the garage and far enough up toward the house that someone can park behind you. Parking on the street past our house is also an option, just be careful not to block the mailboxes.  If you go too far on Hwy. 9 you’ll see the RV parks along the river. You might bring a sunhat if you’re interested in being in the backyard although it is mostly shady.

I look forward to seeing many of you and sharing our beautiful spot in the redwoods.
