March Workshop

Who is Janine Bajus?

Janine is an avid Fair Isle knitter and designer who loves playing with colors and she is the teacher for our next Guild Workshop.
When: March 7th
Where: United Way community room
Cost: $25 per class + materials fee

9:00 – 12:00 Magic Ball: Serendipitous Color

Wondering what to do with those odds and ends of yarn that collect in your wool room? The magic ball method is a fun way to handle them! Working with my collection of yarns you will learn how to arrange random colors in a way that looks intentional and not scrappy. Knotting these yarns together you will wind balls that you can then knit up, surprising yourself with the unpredictable results. I will discuss the kinds of stitch patterns that show off a magic ball’s characteristics while you are making your balls.

The materials fee for this class is $5. Space is limited to 18 knitters in this workshop.

12:00 – 12:30 Brown bag lunch for knitters from either workshop

12:30– 3:30   Learn Two-handed Knitting

Have you wanted to learn how to knit Fair Isle stranded designs, or hoped to hone your skills? Janine will teach you how to knit holding the colors in each hand, and you will practice on a Fair Isle hat (your choice of three different Colorways). Janine will explain how dominance affects patterns, how to make “just right” floats, and how to find the best needles.

Materials fee $23 includes handout and hat kit (Shetland yarn +pattern) Space is limited to 15 knitters in this workshop.
